Soul of the South Shore
Cultural Connections Exhibit
at Indiana Welcome Center
March 14 - April 24, 2005
USWA Local 1010 continues to be a leader in diversity as it participates in the Soul of The South Shore Cultural Connections Exhibit at the Indiana Welcome Center at Kennedy and I-94. The “Cultural, Diversity and Unity – Cultural Connections” Exhibit tells the story of our diverse people and nationalities through their lives, work, faith, sports, music and other endeavors in and around our communities. It is with great honor that Local 1010 applauds Murcie Lavender who made a 2200 lb. sculpture tribute to steelworkers that stood at Gary Works from 1959 through the mid-1960’s. Mrs. Lavender worked 1000 hours on the sculpture and dedicated it to the plant. |
